Egypt: the Hidden Side

My radio interview ‘Egypt: the Hidden Side’ with Paul Goodwin on Hayes FM. Among the topics discussed are how I began writing travel guides, the experiences that went into my Egyptian thriller, GOG, and how a novel can tell you things about a country that a Rough Guide can’t.

Simon Calder’s Adventure Travel Live Show

Explorers, adventurers and entrepreneurs rubbed shoulders at Simon Calder’s Adventure Travel Live last month. I was on a panel with Neil McGowan, discussing the myths and realities of visiting Russia, the rivalry between Moscow and St Petersburg, the Trans-Siberian Railway, and other topics. Before Simon also interviewed me for his Travel Clinic, broadcast on LBC 97.3 FM.

Operation e-Book Drop

I have recently become one of the authors who offer their e-book editions free of charge to troops serving overseas in zone of conflict. Here is more information on this action.

On 6th September, Ed Patterson, author of the Jade Owl Legacy Series, put up a post on KindleBoards, effectively launching Operation E-Book Drop. To date, over 250 authors have signed up to OEBD.

”What began as “Operation Kindle Ebook Drop” has now morphed into something much bigger – “Operation Ebook Drop,” in recognition of the multiple ebook-reading devices – cell phones, Kindles, Sony Readers, laptops, etc. – people use to read ebooks.’ – says Mark Coker, Founder of Smashwords.
